Beko, a leading global home appliance company has received a €100 million sustainability linked loan from IFC part of the World Bank Group. The loan will help Beko expand renewable energy, strengthen earthquake safety and develop smart eco friendly appliances.
This is Beko’s first sustainability linked loan. The funding is connected to the company’s goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase women’s representation in the workforce.
The money will support two solar power plants for clean energy. It will also make six production facilities safer in case of earthquakes. Beko will use part of the loan for research and development of digital and energy efficient appliances that help people live sustainably.
Beko’s CFO, Barış Alparslan said the loan is a big step toward a net zero future. He added that the company wants to deliver smart. Efficient products while creating value for customers and communities worldwide.
IFC said the investment helps build resilient infrastructure and promote sustainable growth. It will also create jobs and support the global economy.
Beko has 50,000 employees and operates in more than 55 countries. The company owns or uses 22 brands, including Beko, Arçelik, Grundig and Hotpoint. Beko is known for its research centers and innovation with more than 4,500 patents worldwide.
The company has received high ratings for sustainability. Appearing on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices and being ranked 17th most sustainable company globally in 2025 by TIME Magazine and Statista.
