Amazon Business Store Lets Sellers Showcase EcoVadis Sustainability Ratings

Amazon Business and sustainability ratings provider EcoVadis have introduced a new feature that allows sellers on the Amazon Business B2B marketplace to display their EcoVadis medals or badges directly on their profiles. The buyers will use these credentials to search for suppliers using the criteria specified.

Services that provide this type of capability have indicated that the reason for this new feature was due to the growth of public interest in supply chain transparency, and the need for businesses to easily access and purchase sustainable products and materials. Additionally, suppliers are facing increasing demands from regulators and other stakeholders today with regard to the implementation of more stringent supply chain due diligence regulations and new mandatory reporting requirements regarding environmental issues.

“The integration of EcoVadis recognition on Amazon Business product pages is a direct response to our customers’ growing focus on sustainable purchasing,” said Jennifer Carroll, Senior Certifications Manager at Amazon Business. Amazon has now made it simpler than ever for business customers to purchase sustainable products online by allowing all of its Amazon Business sellers operating within the European Union (EU) to promote their certified EcoVadis sustainability ratings and certificates of assessment on their individual product pages.

EcoVadis is a third-party evaluation system that assesses and rates companies’ sustainability performance as measured against more than 150,000 companies globally. The company’s assessments are used by businesses to improve their sustainability operations by providing an overview of each company's strengths and weaknesses in four categories: Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.

Under this Amazon Business program, sellers who hold EcoVadis Medal designations (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum) or an EcoVadis Committed Badge have access to the ability to display those awards on their Amazon Business storefront. Business purchasers will now have the ability to filter their search results to only include sellers who have been verified by EcoVadis as being sustainable.

The Amazon Business program is available in all EU nations, including Germany, Italy, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom, as well as in Amazon's European-based countries.

According to EcoVadis co-CEO and co-founder Pierre-François Thaler, “The marketplace is requiring radical transparency.” He says that companies want to align their own procurement strategies to their corporate values and that EcoVadis is the gold standard for being able to accomplish that alignment.
