OpenAI has launched a new Personal Finance feature inside ChatGPT. This new tool is made for Pro users in the United States. It helps people connect their bank accounts and see all their money details in one simple place.
The company said users can link many types of accounts. These include checking accounts, savings accounts, loans and investments. After linking ChatGPT can show a clear view of spending. It can also show bills, subscriptions and saving progress. This helps people understand where their money goes each month.
The system works with more than 12,000 banks through a service called Plaid. OpenAI also plans to add support from Intuit in the future. The rollout will start slowly. Only a small group of users will get it first. Later, more people will be added including ChatGPT Plus users.
ChatGPT can also give simple and easy money help. It can help users plan savings goals. It can also help with paying loans or planning big purchases. Users can add extra details like goals, debts or future plans. This makes the answers more personal over time.
OpenAI said the system is safe and controlled by the user. ChatGPT cannot see full account numbers. It also cannot move money or change accounts. Users can disconnect their accounts anytime they want. All financial data is deleted within 30 days after disconnection.
The tool uses a smart model called GPT-5.5 Thinking. OpenAI says it is better at understanding money problems and giving clear answers. The goal is to help people make better choices not replace real financial experts.
The feature is available on web and iOS at first. OpenAI plans to expand it to more countries later. The company also said future updates may include tax help, credit card advice and direct links to financial services.
