Behrend Student Teaches Personal Finance Skills to Help Students

A student at Penn State Behrend is helping other students learn money skills. The goal is to make Personal Finance easy to understand for college students.

Abhirath Baiju is a junior student. He studies finance and business economics. He works as a financial literacy ambassador. He helps students learn how to manage their money in a better way.

The school has a support center called the Sokolov Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center. It offers help with money topics. It gives workshops, webinars and one on one coaching. This year, the program also started helping students at Penn State Behrend.

Abhirath Baiju teaches students simple money skills. He talks about budgeting, saving and investing. He also explains credit and debt in easy words. He wants students to build good money habits early.

He says many students face money problems. They often have low income. Some students spend money too fast. Some do not know how credit cards or loans work. Small daily costs also add up over time.

He also says many students do not think about money planning early. They only start learning when they face problems. This can lead to debt and stress.

Baiju advises students to make a budget. A budget helps track money coming in and going out. He also suggests saving money in an emergency fund. This helps when unexpected costs come.

He encourages students to learn from mistakes and stay consistent. He also suggests using safe savings accounts that give more interest over time.

The program aims to help students feel more confident with money. It teaches them to plan early and avoid financial trouble in the future.
