Verizon and Google have signed a deal, worth in excess of $1 billion, which is one of the biggest recent partnerships struck between a major telecom operator and a top cloud technology provider.

The long-term agreement is expected to upgrade Verizon’s digital infrastructure, by increasing its utilization of Google’s cloud technology, AI capabilities, and cutting edge data services. The deal shows how closely linked the telecom and cloud worlds are becoming, with operators updating their networks to take in highly data-intensive applications.
