Alberta Opens Sustainability Grants to Protect Rangelands

The Government of Alberta has opened applications for the Rangeland Sustainability Program. The program gives grant money to groups that want to protect Alberta's grasslands and care for the land.

The program helps pay for projects about learning, research and land care. These projects can protect wildlife, save water, improve grasslands and help farms stay strong for many years.

Many groups can apply. These include schools, Indigenous groups, city and town governments and registered non profit groups. People cannot apply on their own but they can join projects led by an approved group.

The government wants projects that bring people together and show clear results. Ideas that help nature, support farming and improve land care have a better chance of getting funding.

Project costs may include worker pay, learning tools, travel and other costs linked to the project. The program does not pay for land purchases, fundraising or routine repair work.

The Rangeland Sustainability Program is part of Alberta's work to keep its grasslands healthy for the future. Officials say the grants will help protect nature while supporting local farms and communities.
