Many Spanish shoppers care about Sustainability when they buy products. A new study shows that 74% of shoppers say it is an important part of their buying choices.
But living in a more green way is not always easy. Only 37% of people said it is easy to live a sustainable life.
Many shoppers are making simple changes at home. These changes can also help them save money.
About 97% of people try to reduce food waste. They buy only what they need. For 54% of these people, saving money is the main reason. Another 43% said helping the planet is the main reason.
People are also trying to use less water and energy. About 94% do this. Some 93% separate waste for recycling.
Many shoppers also choose energy saving home items. About 92% said they do this. Another 90% buy products with recycled or recyclable packaging.
Packaging is also changing the way people shop.
About 40% of shoppers said they stopped buying a product because they felt its packaging was not good for the planet. Another 33% said they had thought about doing this.
Some 87% of shoppers look for products with less packaging. About 80% want clearer recycling information on packages.
The study also found that 78% think companies should reduce extra packaging.
Sustainability can also affect brand loyalty. About 42% of shoppers said they stopped buying from brands they saw as not sustainable.
Another 26% said they prefer green brands when the price is about the same.
The study shows that Spanish shoppers want better choices. But price is still very important. Companies that offer fair prices and better green products may have a better chance of keeping customers.
