Rwanda growing coffee industry could find new business opportunities in Pakistan as the country’s urban coffee culture continues to grow.
Rwanda is known for its high quality Arabica coffee. In recent years, the country has improved coffee farming, processing and exports. More Rwandan coffee is now entering specialty markets.
Pakistan has a strong tea culture. But coffee is becoming more popular in cities such as Lahore and Islamabad. Many young people visit cafés to meet friends, study, work and relax.
This change could create new space for Rwandan coffee in Pakistan.
Pakistani coffee companies and café owners could work with Rwandan coffee producers and exporters. They could import Rwandan coffee beans and sell them as specialty coffee.
The business could also go beyond coffee imports. Pakistani companies could roast, pack and market Rwandan coffee in Pakistan. Both sides could also work on new coffee brands and café projects.
Training could be another area of cooperation. Rwandan and Pakistani businesses could work together on barista training, coffee skills and café management.
The Rwanda Coffee Festival held in Islamabad in January 2026 also showed growing interest in Rwandan coffee in Pakistan.
Rwanda could gain access to a new consumer market. Pakistan could gain access to a new coffee origin and stronger links with East African businesses.
The two countries could also explore wider work in food processing, packaging, retail, hospitality and marketing.
Coffee is a small part of trade between Rwanda and Pakistan. But it could become a useful way to build stronger business ties.
As Pakistan’s café culture grows, Rwandan coffee could offer a new product for local consumers while creating new opportunities for trade and investment between East Africa and South Asia.
