Coca Cola Beverages Florida is working to save water and cut waste at its drink plants.
The company is using a new water system from BIOIONIX. The system cleans and treats water used in bottle and can warmers. The water can then be used again.
The company projects saving about 160,000 gallons of water each week. It also says about 90% of the warmer process water can be reused.
The system helps reduce the need to dump water every day. It also helps lower the use of single use cleaning chemicals.
The technology uses three steps to clean the water. It uses an electric current to help remove harmful germs. It then uses treated water to clean the warmer. Nanobubbles help remove oil and grease from surfaces.
The case study reports several other gains. Cleaning time fell by 90%. Manual work was reduced by 100%. Water cloudiness also fell by 66%.
The company also reported a 98.6% drop in single use chemical costs. It reported major cuts in water and power use as well.
Coca Cola Beverages Florida says the project can save money while also helping protect water resources.
The company is also working toward removing single use chemicals from all of its bottle and can warmers by 2026.
BIOIONIX says its technology was first developed through work linked to NASA water reuse research. The company now provides water and food safety systems for food makers.
The project shows how a beverage company can link Sustainability with lower costs and less waste. Coca Cola Beverages Florida plans to keep using the approach in other parts of its operations.
The goal is simple: use less water, use fewer chemicals and make production more efficient.
