Teenage students around the world can now take part in The Earth Prize 2027. The global competition asks young students to create ideas that can help protect the environment and build a better future.
Students must be born between 2007 and 2014. They must also be in school, homeschooled or part of another education program. Students can enter alone or join a team of up to five students.
Registration is open until January 10, 2027. After registering, students must submit their Earth Prize Blueprint by January 31, 2027. The Blueprint helps students explain the problem they want to solve and how their idea could help.
The competition has a stated prize pool of USD 104,500. Seven Regional Winners will each receive USD 10,000 to help put their projects into action.
The competition also gives students a chance to learn from experts. Students who reach the Scholar stage will be matched with mentors. These mentors can help students improve their ideas and prepare their next submission.
Students can also get mentoring through The Earth Foundation community. Young participants who are under 18 will need permission from a parent or guardian before joining the community and taking part in the competition.
The Earth Prize has several steps. These include registration, Blueprint submission, Scholar selection, the Scholar stage, regional judging, public voting and the final awards ceremony.
Scholar selection will take place on March 3, 2027. The Scholar stage will run from March 3 to March 31. Regional projects will then be reviewed from March 31 to May 2. The Regional Winners will be announced between May 3 and May 9.
Public voting will take place from May 10 to May 23, 2027. The final awards ceremony will be held on May 28, 2027. Projects will be judged on areas such as how well students understand the problem. How useful their idea is and whether they have a clear plan to move forward.
The Earth Prize gives young students a chance to work on real environmental problems. It encourages students to research problems, test their ideas and plan how their solutions could work in the real world.
For students interested in Sustainability, the competition offers a chance to develop an environmental project, receive guidance from mentors and compete with young innovators from around the world.
