The EU Korea Eco Design Cooperation Forum was held in Seoul South Korea from July 2 to 3 2025. It was part of the 2025 Circular Economy Festival.
The forum brought together more than 600 people. This included leaders from government, companies and schools. They met to talk about eco design, green products and how to make the economy more sustainable.
The main topics were eco design and the Digital Product Passport (DPP). These tools help companies make greener products. They also make it easier to reuse and recycle items.
The European Union (EU) shared details about its new Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Law. Which started in 2024. This law helps improve the durability, energy use and recyclability of products.
The DPP will start in 2026. It will be used for electronics, textiles and batteries. It will help people know more about the materials, carbon footprint and repair options of each product.
South Korea is also working on green policies. With its 3rd Basic Plan for Resource Circulation. Korea wants to cut waste, use fewer new materials and make more eco friendly products.
The Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) said it will help by creating new tech. Supporting cleaner factories and working with companies to build a low carbon economy.
On the second day experts from the electronics, textiles and battery sectors shared ideas. They talked about the need to share data, use the same standards and work together across countries.
The forum showed how international cooperation can help build a better future. It also proved that eco design is a key part of creating a sustainable, circular economy.
The EU and Korea plan to keep working together. They want to grow the bioeconomy, support clean technology and fight climate change as strong global partners.
